Profile Nurse

Nurses with HealthCare NZ provide professional nursing services in the community for people with acute, chronic or palliative conditions.

Our main contracts are with ACC, both ACC Community (Home Based) Nursing Services and ACC Social Rehabilitation Assessment Services; the Ministry of Health; and District Health Boards.

With a strong focus on building competencies, our professional nursing structure supports professional development and encourages educational opportunities for all our nurses. We have implemented a professional development and recognition programme (PDRP) which has three levels of practice for Enrolled Nurses and four levels for Registered Nurses.

We are continually evolving our nursing services to deliver innovative packages of care. Nurses are increasingly contributing to and leading service innovations in the community as HealthCare NZ develops integrated care services. (Link to Nikau Integrated Care Programme)

Nursing Positions

All Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses or Nurse Assistants are required to be on the PDRP. The nursing programme has been developed against the Nursing Council's competencies and is reflected in the position descriptions.

HealthCare NZ employs senior nurses on individual employment agreements that are required for specialist, management or leadership roles across the company. Our current nursing structure and the competencies required are available here.
