NZCare: Empowering autism support

If you or your family member has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), we can support you to live independently, to overcome any challenges you may be facing and to work towards your personal goals.

Our professional team receives specialist training around the specific support needs of people with ASD and will work with you to create a personalised support plan that carefully combines the specialist services listed below to meet your individual needs.

Supported living options

If you would like to live in your own home, we can support you to live as independently as possible. This may involve helping you to find and set up your flat, to budget your money and to manage your daily routines and personal support needs.

If you choose to live in one of our residential homes, we will support you to live in a place that reflects your personality and interests.

You will have full-time access to and support from our well trained, professional team who can help you to get to know your flatmates, to fulfil your daily tasks and routines and to contribute to the running of your home.

Whichever living option you choose, we will ensure that we listen to and understand your specific needs so that we can help you to maintain your health and wellbeing.

And because life is about more than just the things we have to do, we can also support you to contribute to your local community, to keep in touch with your family and friends and to do the things you enjoy.

Personalised day services

We provide personalised, supportive day programmes for people with disabilities, including those who either live with their family or who receive their support from another provider.

These services are just one of the ways that we can support you to meet new people, learn new skills, do the things you enjoy and be a part of your local community.

We will ensure that you have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities, such as gardening and farming, art and craft, music and movement and/or specialist sensory programmes.

Flexible respite options

With our short-term respite services, we can support you to take an enjoyable, safe and supported break away from your usual home environment or support system.

Our professional team will work with you and your family/whānau and advocates to create a personalised respite support plan that meets your individual wishes and goals.

This may include supporting you to do the activities you enjoy, to be part of a family holiday, to enjoy some out-of-family respite time or to strengthen your skills and relationships.

Whatever your respite needs, we will enable both you and your support network to live with more independence and to maintain greater energy, life balance and wellbeing.

Individualised funding

As a Ministry of Health-approved individualised funding (IF) host, we can support you to take maximum control over the support services you or your family member receives.

Our specialist IF advisors will provide you with the information, knowledge and guidance you need to effectively manage all aspects of your service delivery, including:

  • creating a carefully tailored support plan
  • choosing your ideal support provider/s
  • employing and paying your staff.

To find out more about our IF services, please call: 0800 467 843 or email ifhost@healthcarenz.co.nz

We provide all members of our team with on-going training and will regularly seek feedback from you and your family/whānau to ensure that we can meet your changing wishes and needs.

You may also choose to join one of our client and family advocacy groups so that you can play an active role in the development of our services.

To discuss how we can support your specific needs, please contact our professional NZCare team.
