Medically fragile children
Supporting your child and family
If you have a child who has serious health concerns that need ongoing medical treatment, we can provide you with daily healthcare and respite in the comfort of your home.
Our professional team will work with you to develop a responsive programme of care that supports both the wellbeing of your child and the strength and resilience of your family/whānau.
We work with children aged from birth to 14 years, and depending on your needs, we can:
- support your child to make a smooth transition from hospital to home
- provide specialist nursing care and advice
- offer personal care for your child, including dressing, bathing and toileting
- assist you with domestic and household tasks, enabling you to maintain regular routines
- enlist the support of appropriate community groups
- allow you to have a break away or to spend some time with your other children, knowing that the needs of your medically fragile child are being met.
By helping you to care for your child in the community, we will seek to reduce your feelings of stress and isolation and to give your child the best possible opportunities to develop and grow.
You may be eligible to receive funding for this service, and we also support privately paying clients.
