Working with MSD

People are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to supporting better futures, greater quality of life and positive opportunities for all New Zealanders, regardless of their age or the complexity of their support needs.

Our high-quality home health and disability support services are available nationwide, and many of the 17,000 people we work with receive additional assistance from the Ministry of Social Development's (MSD) dedicated agencies and services.

We are committed to working alongside these services, as well as community groups and iwi, to ensure that people can receive the most integrated and empowering support possible.

To find out more about our holistic services, please see the links below.

Vocational and disability support services

At NZCare, we are committed to supporting people with disabilities to make their own choices, to do the things they enjoy and to live with more independence.

We provide high-quality, specialist support for people of all ages, including those with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and Huntington’s disease.

To meet each person’s individual needs, we work alongside them and their family/whānau each step of the way, providing personalised support that may include:

  • vocational programmes that involve supporting people to learn new skills, to do the things they enjoy, and to be a part of their local community
  • supported living options that empower people to live full and independent lives, either in their own homes or in one of our residential houses
  • flexible respite support including in-home, out-of-home and host family options that enable people to take a safe, enjoyable and supported break away from their usual home environment or support system
  • individualised funding options that enable people to take maximum control over the support services either they, or their family member receives.
Training and education services

With an increasing demand for high-quality community support services, we are committed to providing professional workforce development and training opportunities.

Wellcare Education is a leading provider of NZQA qualifications and has experience providing specialist health and disability training for:

  • support workers who are currently employed in the health and disability sector, including our organisation
  • secondary school students and leavers who are looking to gain practical work experience and skills
  • people who are currently receiving a benefit and wish to re-enter the workforce.

Wellcare is committed to enabling people to achieve their potential and goals, and has successfully trained over 7000 people within the past 10 years.

Work and Income accredited medical alarms

Our Freedom Medical Alarms enable people to live safely and independently in their own homes by ensuring that expert medical attention is just the push of a button away.

Worn as either a waterproof pendant or watch, our alarms give people a direct link to an emergency ambulance service that is monitored at all times, by a trained and experienced emergency team.

Freedom Medical Alarms is a Work and Income NZ accredited personal medical alarms provider and funding is often available for our service. To find out more, visit www.freedomalarms.co.nz.
