Who are we?
NZCare Disability is a National provider of a range of support services to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Our aim is to maximise the independence and quality of life of the people we support. Services include residential support, respite care and vocational services.
What does a Team Leader do?
A Team Leader works within a Support Worker team to deliver quality support to people of all ages with disabilities, assisting them in their daily living needs. Working collaboratively with a Service Manager, they are responsible for overseeing the effective day-to-day support provided in the service. These are hands-on roles encompassing personal cares, cooking, general household duties and leisure activities at home and in the community.
What skills do I need?
- Experience in providing support to people with disabilities, including those with high and complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people including family, community, and professional groups
- The ability to work a rotating shift roster (including overnight shifts)
- A reasonable level of physical fitness
- Patience, adaptability and a passion for improving the lives of others
- A full New Zealand Drivers’ Licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle, as our staff transport the people we support in our disability vans
- Minimum Level 2, Foundation Skills, Certificate in Community Support Services
- I.T skills and the ability to work with both manual and computerised record keeping
- The right to work in NZ is essential
