She does it for the people she supports – Celebrating Robin Zeilstra
Caring for others comes naturally to Robin. It’s at the heart of everything she does.
From Wairoa to National Support Worker of the Year, Robin Zeilstra is being recognised for the difference she makes supporting people in her community
Robin has been named HealthCare New Zealand’s National Support Worker of the Year, after first winning the Hawke’s Bay/Wairarapa regional award.
Selected from 177 HealthCare New Zealand support workers nominated by their colleagues across the country, Robin was deeply humbled by the recognition.
“I do what I do not for rewards, it’s just me.”
And that says so much about Robin.
Her story was recently featured in The Wairoa Star, shining a light on the difference she makes every day supporting older people in her community.
For the people Robin supports, her mahi is about much more than practical help. It’s about kindness, connection and being there when it matters most – helping people live independently, stay connected with their whānau and continue to feel part of their community.
Robin’s story is a wonderful reminder of the impact of support work: that the everyday moments of care, connection and compassion can make a world of difference.
Ka pai, Robin!
We’re incredibly proud to have you as part of the HealthCare New Zealand whānau.
