Connecting with the communities we serve
You don’t always know when a family member or loved one might need a little extra help.
Life changes. Circumstances change. And sometimes, finding the right care or support becomes part of the journey.
For children and their whānau, school is an important part of everyday life. It’s where friendships are formed, milestones are celebrated and families connect with the people around them. It’s also part of a much wider network – parents and caregivers, teachers and support staff, whānau and others who help children thrive.
“It takes a community to raise a child”
For HealthCare New Zealand, being part of that wider community matters.
That’s why we’re connecting with five school communities across Aotearoa through Skool Loop.
Being where families already are
For many families, Skool Loop is already part of everyday school life. It’s where schools share news, updates and information with parents, whānau and staff – a familiar place to stay connected with what’s happening at school.
HealthCare New Zealand is there too. You’ll find us through the school apps and websites of:
- Wairau Valley Special School – Auckland
- Patricia Avenue School – Hamilton
- Rotorua Specialist School – Rotorua
- Homai School – Auckland
- Arahunga School – Whanganui
For us, it’s another way to engage with families, to let them know who we are, what we do and that we are here for them
Because life can change
Families don’t always know when they might need additional care or support.
A new challenge can arise. Circumstances can change. Or there may simply come a time when a family needs a little more help.
When that happens, knowing where to start can make all the difference. Sometimes it’s a conversation with someone you trust. Sometimes it’s a recommendation. And sometimes it’s recognising a name you’ve seen before.
By engaging with school communities, HealthCare New Zealand can become one of those familiar names. Not because every family will need us, but because if they ever do, we want them to know we’re here for them.
The people around the person matter too
For many children and young people, there’s a whole network of people around them.
Whānau and caregivers who know them best. Teachers who see their strengths and progress. Support staff who understand their routines and goals.
Each person brings a different perspective, and together they help create a fuller picture of the individual.
That matters to us. Because good care isn’t just about what support someone might need. It’s about understanding who they are, what matters to them and the people who matter to them.
Part of something bigger
Our teams support people and whānau across Aotearoa every day. But being there for people isn’t only about what happens when they become a client. It’s also about being present in the places that matter to them, building familiarity and making it easier to know where to turn if the need ever arises.
Being part of these school communities through Skool Loop is one small way we can do that. Because you don’t always know when you might need a helping hand. But if that time comes, HealthCare New Zealand is walking right beside you
